About these guides

This site is the reference side of Ninebloom, a Sudoku app by Leafy Orb, a small independent studio that makes calm, useful apps.

Where the examples come from

Every board in the technique guides is a real position from one of Ninebloom's puzzles. A script runs the app's own hint engine over the shipped puzzles, stops at the first place each technique is the easiest move available, and draws the board with the exact cells and eliminations the hint uses. The captions are written from that same step and checked against it, so the words and the picture always agree.

Each example carries a position code. Paste it into Ninebloom's Your own puzzle screen and you're playing that exact position, with the hint waiting.

How puzzles are rated

Ninebloom's solver works like a person, always taking the easiest move available, and gives each puzzle the level of the hardest technique it needed. More about the levels.
